When considering the design of an IAS for a commercial property the design of the system should be consistent with the risk of an attack on the supervised (protected) premises. The level of risk will depend, among other issues, on the type of contents.

Part B: Building

When considering the element of risk in the design of an IAS, the structure of the premises to be supervised (protected) will be a major determining factor. Issues which should be considered are included below:

Walls, roof, floor, basement / Outbuildings (if used to contain target/attractive items) / Other (any significant building construction that might influence the design of the IAS)

2. Openings

Openings in the shell of the building that could facilitate unauthorised entry

3. Occupancy

4. Locality

5. Existing security

6. Security environment
